My Bio
JACK DUNNE
Jack is a Seattle native who combines abstract painting, breathtaking landscapes, and outlandish cartoons in new and unusual ways. He comes from a large extended family of artists who run the gamut from oil and watercolor painters, animators, and commercial artists. Jack first displayed his knack as a cartoonist in 1989 with his first comic strip, “Ninja Rabbit and the Karrot Kid.” Since that time, his pantheon of characters has expanded to include pirate worms, turtle-riding gnomes, and a pair of factory-reject robots from space.
In mid-2012 (at his wife’s insistence!), Jack finally picked up a paint brush and added acrylics, murals, and body/face paint to his creative arsenal. He retired from the US Navy in 2014 and currently lives in Shelton, WA with his wife Heidi and their four kids.
HEIDI DUNNE
Heidi was born in Vancouver, WA. She is a proud Alaska native who married her Sailor sweetheart at a young age. Together, they have travelled all over the country with their four homeschooled children. Her professional work began in 2010 with a mural she painted for her local church of a fun and playful forest, teeming with life and capturing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
You could say that diversity is Heidi’s middle name. She is often described as the “Swiss army knife” of the art world. Her vast repertoire includes henna, face painting, jewelry, murals, acrylics, and hand-made costumes. Her mind doesn’t linger on any one discipline for too long before refreshing itself with exciting new possibilities for the next project. But her true artistic joy lies in the art of henna.
Jack and Heidi lent their creative talents to the Art Kids of San Diego County (www.takosdc.com) from 2012 to 2014. Their artwork has been displayed at Bibbey’s Shell Shop in Imperial Beach and the Chula Vista court house. You can see more of Jack and Heidi’s artwork online at www.facebook.com/AnchorandQuills.
